Wooden dowels, skewers, toothpicks and plastic straws are used to support tiered cakes and decorations.
Please look for and be aware of these items when preparing to serve your guests.
Fondant Covered Cakes:
Fondant covered cakes are kept refrigerated until pick up, but should be served at room temperature (68-78 degrees F) for the best tasting experience!
Depending on the size of cake, it may take between 3 and 4 hours for this to occur once the cake is picked up.
Fondant covered cakes may condensate when removed from the refrigerator.
It is strongly recommended to keep the cake in the wrapped box for at least 30-45 minutes after pick up.
Bringing the cake to room temperature slowly should help reduce the amount of condensation, if it is to occur.
When the wrap is removed and if condensation is present, do not touch the fondant as it may leave a mark.
Eventually the cake will dry. Some cakes take longer than others depending on the environment.
If you choose to freeze your cake or leftovers ensure it is wrapped tightly several times with saran wrap to ensure no freezer burn.
When thawing – remove the cake and or leftover portion from the freezer, place in the fridge overnight wrapped.
For leftovers it is easier to cut the portions when the cake is cold, leave single servings on a plate and place the remaining cold cake back in the refrigerator in a sealed container.
If you are defrosting a whole cake, remove from the refrigerator - remove the saran wrap and place in a sealed container for 30-45 minutes.
Remove from the container and follow the instructions above.
Consume within 48 hours.
Buttercream Cakes:
Buttercream frosted cakes are refrigerated until pick up but should be served at room temperature ( 68-72 degrees F) for the best tasting experience.
Depending on the size of cake, it may take between 3 and 4 hours for this to occur once the cake is picked up.
If you choose to freeze your leftovers, when thawing-remove from the freezer and place in the refrigerator overnight.
It is easier to cut portions from the leftover cake when it is cold and place the single portions on a plate to enable them to reach room temp.
Place the remaining cold cake back in the fridge in a sealed container.
Consume within 48 hours.
Travelling:
If you are travelling with your cake, do so when the cake is cold.
Ensure the air conditioning in your car is set on “high” and the cake is placed in an area of the car that receives the most air circulation.
DO NOT TRAVEL WITH ROOM TEMPERATURE CAKES!
Stability/Structure:
Depending on the design and height of your cake, wooden dowels, skewers and or toothpicks may be present inside the cake and under decorations to aid in stability and decoration assembly. Please be aware and look for these items when cutting your cake.
Also, please note - the stability of the cake could be compromised if the cake is kept at room temperature for too long.
Presentation:
Do not place your cake in direct sunlight.
Do not leave at room temperature for long periods of time.
CUPCAKES:
Cupcakes are refrigerated until pick up, but should be served at room temperature.
Depending on the environment, it can take up to one hour for cupcakes to reach room temperature - out of the box.
Please factor in this additional time when determining your pickup time.
If the cupcakes are being set up for presentation, it is recommended to do so when they are cold to limit the possible "damage" that may occur to the frosting when removing them from the box.
If the frosting is firm (cold) the damage should be minimal.
Let the cupcakes reach room temperature while being displayed.
Again, any leftovers should be refrigerated but served at room temperature.
Enjoy!
